Flying during a pandemic
Flying during a pandemic feels a bit eerie but it also feels eerily the same. I haven’t flown since February and I probably won’t fly again for a while, but this was a special event and driving was not an efficient use of our time. We did however decide to the leave the kids at home, we just aren’t ready for that, but to each their own.
See below - the views do in face look the same ;) A bit more appreciated now though.
Tips for Flying during A Pandemic
1️⃣. Update your Expectations
It doesn’t appear that airports have capacity rules bc the CLT and KCI seem to be business as usual from a capacity perspective.
The food/drink/shopping options are severely limited so look up your airport first to see what’s open!
2️⃣. Understand your airline
Capacity of plane by major airline- as of 10.11.20 American is full, Southwest & Delta are leaving middle seats open for a few more the still.
No normal drinks/ food service during the flight to help make masking possible for the entire duration BUT they still have water on the flight. So just ask for some or make sure to buy a bottle before you get on the plane- it’s a long flight with no liquids.
Most have new ways of boarding or deplaning to limit interaction.
American still has the damn magazine! Like did people really read those before ? And now, all the germs on those things - no thank you ! It does say on the cover that it’s like made with germ resistant paper or something but I’m not picking it up to read the details lol.
3️⃣. Don’t touch a damn thing - but here’s a list of must have’s bc it’s impossible not to touch
Mask up| I suggest using a fresh medical grade mask (make sure it’s on the right way lol (see pic below)
Hand sanitizer| in case you have to touch anything
Clorox wipes| in case you do have to touch anything- the airlines should have some wipes but in case they don’t I would bring your own
Tennis shoes| I always recommend covering your feet so you can keep the floor germys off your bare skin.
